I've had this backpack for about 7 months now and I've been using it to carry my daughter from when she was 8 months old until now (she is 15 months old.) She is a big girl (always in the 80th-90th percentile.) There are so many ways you can make adjustments to the straps and supports, so I think it will fit just about anyone. I am a 5'1" 110lb woman, so I have to tighten it all the way, but my husband has used it also, and it works just fine for him. (He's only 5'6", so we can't really say how it does for larger people.)
It is very comfortable. I wore it for 2 and a half hours the first time I used it and I didn't feel any soreness or pain. My daughter really likes it, too. Of course, since I have a short torso, she is able to look over my shoulder easily. Maybe for someone who is tall, the child might not be able to see as well. I can even carry my 35lb 3-year-old comfortably, although he just rides in it for fun around the house and then he's done within a few minutes.
I love how I can have my hands free and I don't have to bring a stroller along everywhere we go. We've gone to the zoo and to the children's museum several times and I don't have push a stroller or even bring a diaper bag. I like how I can keep my money, ID, credit cards, and even my phone in the front pockets of the waist band, so even if someone were to rifle through my backpack without me noticing, they would only find diapers, wipes, and sippy cups!
The storage area is not very big, but it meets my needs. I can easily take the pack on and off by myself wherever we go and I've received compliments on it several times. I don't think a baby could sleep in it very well, but that was never an issue for my daughter because she does not sleep anywhere but her bed (which can be a pain sometimes)!
Overall, for a child who does not need to sleep and is young enough that he/she needs to be confined to a stroller, this backpack is perfect!

My husband and I selected this model for an early birthday present for him. We ordered the black color. Just and FYI... The model pictured is not what we received. The bag looks like the other colors except black, grey, and tan. This was not a big deal as I guessed that would happen. The deal breaker for this carrier (and the reason we had to return it) was its size. My husband is 6'3" and the fit of the carrier is too small for him. The chest clip in the front rests right under his neck. The torso adjustment also does not adjust to fit him properly. We tried every combination of adjustments and could not make it work.
The other thing he did not like is that this bag is designed for a lot of the weight to remain on your shoulders rather than your hips. What the description on Amazon does not say (that you can find on Kelty's website) is that this model is intended to be used for short trips like the farmer's market, short hikes, etc. If you want to do any extended trips, than this is not the right model.
In the end, my husband wants something that will fit him properly and take the weight off his shoulders like a camping backpack. We like Kelty products and found everything else about the carrier to be great. We decided in the end to return this and purchase the Kelty FC 3.0.

I purchased this solely on the positive reviews people have gushed about this product, and to be honest the well priced offer. The very next day I received this I took my 1 year old who is about 25lbs for a semi long hike and boy was I uncomfortable. 20 minutes into the hike and I started feeling the tension around my shoulders. There's not enough padding on the shoulder straps in turn created some sourness on my shoulders in the following days. I had to constantly move the straps from side to side to alleviate the tension and find a comfort area. Also this is a pretty heavy backpack, you do not want to occupy the pockets with anything to add to the weigh. Side pockets weren't bad although I couldn't fit my iphone in one. Without the casing of the phone it would fit perfectly. Another gripe I have is that without a bottom stand it is hard to put my child in and heave the pack onto my back. At least he was comfortable and enjoyed the hike.
So I returned it and ordered the Deuter Kid Comfort II. Almost dbl in its price, but I believe it's worth it, since I would never use this model of Kelty again.
I give it 1.5 stars.
